Extruded Polyimide Tubing for Precision Lumen and Insulation

WELLELE extruded polyimide tubing is a one-piece, non-wound PI construction for sensors, thermistors, test equipment, precision instruments and high-density electronics. Industrial custom capability includes IDs of approximately 0.1-50 mm and wall thicknesses of approximately 0.015-0.35 mm, with exact feasibility determined by size, tolerance, length and material system.

Extruded Polyimide Tubing

Extruded PI tubing is often called seamless because it has no film overlap. That description does not mean zero leakage or automatic pressure-tight performance. Fluid or pressure service must be validated with the actual medium, pressure, temperature, wall and connection method.

Requirement Extruded PI direction Review
Controlled lumen for wire or probe insertion Strong fit Minimum ID and cut-end openness
Long coil or continuous length Possible by size Dimensional trend and packaging
No wound overlap Strong fit Do not equate with leak-proof
Very thin coating-built wall Compare dip coating Wall, surface and pinhole needs
Large film-based sleeve Compare spiral winding ID, wall build and seam acceptance

When should you choose extruded PI tubing?

Extruded polyimide tubing is a one-piece PI tube construction used when the application requires a non-wound structure, controlled lumen geometry and stable dimensional performance.

It is typically reviewed for sensors, thermistors, thermocouples, high-density wiring, precision instruments, electronic components and selected capillary applications where ID, OD, wall thickness and cut-end quality must be controlled.

Choose extrusion when lumen geometry and a non-wound construction are more important than a film-wound structure.

Non-wound structure

No spiral or axial winding seam

Precision lumen control

Suitable for applications where ID is critical

Thin-wall capability

Useful for compact assemblies and mico  spaces

Cut-length or coil format

Can be reviewed for sample, short length or continuous supply

Industrial electronics focus

Suitable for sensors, wiring, probes and instruments

Custom dimensions

ID0.003″ up, OD, wall thickness and length reviewed by project

  • Thermistor Lead Insulation
Used as a compact PI insulation tube around thermistor or temperature-sensing leads where thin wall and stable ID are important.
  • Probe and Test Equipment
Used in high-density test fixtures or probe-related assemblies where small diameter, insulation and cut-end quality affect assembly reliability.
  • Precision Instrument Tubing
Used as guide, insulation or protection tubing in compact industrial instruments.
  • High-Density Wiring
Used as an insulating sleeve in dense electronic wiring where space is limited.

Extruded Polyimide Tube FAQ

In many purchasing contexts, extruded polyimide tubing is described as seamless because it is not made by film winding. However, leak-proof or pressure-tight performance must be tested separately.

Industrial custom capability covers approximately 0.1-50 mm ID and 0.015-0.35 mm wall across the extruded PI family. Not every ID, wall, tolerance and length combination is possible; the drawing and application are reviewed together

Long-coil supply can be reviewed by size, wall thickness, tolerance and packaging requirement.

Possible causes include thin wall, small ID, cutting method, blade condition and unsupported tube during cutting.

Select extruded polyimide tubing from the complete component dimensions, operating conditions, manufacturing process and acceptance criteria. Use samples to confirm fit and function before volume production.
